Good to know
What’s the cheapest family meal in Houston right now?
Taco Bell’s Meal for 4: $20.83 for 4, or $5.21 a person before tax, checked Nov 2, 2026. Pizza can come in cheaper, but pizza chains don’t say how many a pizza feeds, so those numbers use our own serving estimate.
How do you work out the price a person?
We price enough of the meal to feed everyone you’re feeding, using the most people the restaurant says it feeds, then divide by your headcount. A “Meal for 2” counts twice for a family of four. Prices are the menu price before tax.
Is a family meal cheaper than cooking or the grocery store?
Almost never. Cooking from scratch on USDA’s moderate-cost plan works out to $3.82 a person per meal, and a store rotisserie chicken dinner for four is $3.42 a person. The cheapest family meal here costs $1.39 more a person than that; you’re paying for not cooking, shopping or cleaning up.
What about tax and delivery?
Prices here are before tax. Sales tax around Houston is 8%, so a $30 meal comes to $32.48. Delivery apps usually charge more than the menu price, plus fees, so we list the restaurant’s own price.
